5 helpful tips to find your personal style

*Advertisement/ In collaboration with EDITED

As far as I can remember, I had a great interest in fashion. When I was sixteen, I had my first part-time job to afford some nice clothes. Because my parents had resigned to support my desire for more fashion-freedom and with my pocket money couldn’t cover that at all . So the self-made money was invested in a summer vacation or just my passion for shoes and bags.

Looking back, I’ve put a lot more emphasis on mass instead of class. That was probably also because I had no idea about my own fashion style and had try everything out first. Additionally the awareness of my body was quite different and I simply didn’t know what clothes look good on me and which ones don’t. I just bought many clothes and made a lot of fashionable experiments.

Today, it’s a bit different and I’m not just trying to improve my consumer behavior, but can also prevent mispurchases pretty well. Why? That’s quite simple. Today I know myself and my own fashion style and need less experiments.

“Finding your own fashion style takes years and is a steady process.”

Still, I think the following 5 tips helped me a lot to develop my own style.

Quite right – It is important to have an overview of your clothes. Otherwise, I am quickly overwhelmed by the masses. Look exactly at your wardrobe and find the pieces that don’t fit your style. Shirt, skirts and co. in which you never felt well or that you haven’t worn for months, have to get out of the closet.

Sometimes I don’t feel inspired, when I stand in front of the wardrobe. It’s even worse when we travel and have to plan the outfits well in advance. Then it helps me to scroll through Instagram and Pinterest. Streetstyles from around the world give me new food for thought and make me want to recombine my forgotten treasures.

Again and again  I notice, that the joy about a basic piece is more long-lasting, than the pleasure about a fancy dress with eyecatching print. You can never get enough of basics and you can combine them again and again differently. Therefore, I advise you not to give up the search for the perfect jeans or a beautiful blouse. Don’t settle for a stopgap solution and invest  in a garment in which you feel completely comfortable.

There is nothing worse than emulating every trend and losing your own line. Stay always authentic and try combinations that suit your type.

Signature – Pieces give your looks a red thread and give them that extra something. This can be certain accessory, colors, prints or silhouettes, that appear again and again in your outfits and determine the recognition value. For example, I have discovered my preference for eye-catching earrings and currently like to wear them with all of my outfits.

It’s not always easy to find or define your personal style. That’s why I hope I’ve been able to give you some tips to help you find your own style today.

In this blogpost I’ve put together my favorites from EDITED, which I have divided into the categories ALL WHITE FAVORITES, BEST BASICS, ALL TIME MUST-HAVES and SUMMER ESSENTIALS.
